Read our story

Hey! Our names are Kennedi-Grace Magaoay and Noah Kalma, and we are sophomores at Middlebury College. Kennedi, studying linguistic anthropology, and I, studying computer science and mathematics, are working together to create this website. Beginning toward the end of freshman year, and starting as a little side project, this website came about because Kennedi was telling me about how hard her language, ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian), was to learn online. Me, looking for a project, jumped on the idea. Over time, we both grew more and more invested, and are now working on a full release with lessons, an extensive word bank, and plenty of reference materials and practice!
